Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud [PBCS] is a complete planning, budgeting, and forecasting solution that enables organizations of any size to rapidly adopt world-class planning applications, improving forecast accuracy with minimal IT resources. When building the PBCS database outline, the file specifications follow a strict format that must be maintained.

Dimension (Account Segment) Build File Specifications for PBCS.

Upon exporting from eBS a little extra effort is required to pass the segment values with their hierarchies to PBCS. This tip helps you extract the master data in a way that is compliant with the PBCS upload ensuring fidelity between source and target.

Loading master data in the form of dimension hierarchies into PBCS is extremely easy and fast but requires a strict file format.

  • The easiest and most convenient way to produce an accurate file format is to build a few members in your desired dimension, then export in CSV format to excel.
  • The resulting file will have ALL of the master data and meta-data fields available for the given dimension list as individual columns.
  • Simply delete the unnecessary columns to produce the file format required for uploading en masse.
  • Keep in mind the first three column are MASTER data and must always appear (member, parent, default: alias).

All other columns are optional.
