When you are building and testing custom reports in Oracle Cloud BI, often important information is inadvertently included, such as Social Security Numbers or birth dates. When you are working on these reports, it is typical for the developer to either not include or hardcode “XXXXX” in place of this data to prevent inadvertent disclosure. There is a simple trick that helps you to hide critical information in a development only environment but allows it to show in production.

Between May and July of 2019, Ernst & Young sought out Highstreet to perform the Accounting Hub implementation work for Lyft. This opportunity began the largest implementation of Oracle Accounting Hub Cloud Service ever done. For Lyft’s US and Canadian operations, not only was this project the largest of its kind ever, but in addition it needed to be finished in a record-breaking five months—which would be four months sooner than Oracle’s most optimistic estimate of nine months. The project was to develop and implement the accounting rules necessary to create detailed subledger journal entries for all of Lyft’s primary business activities in the US and Canada as well as various operation reports.
